Apart from developing their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills this wonderful game also helps to develop mathematical skills. It helps children to understand propositions, language that is connected to space, measuring, comparing and counting.
What is surprising is that block play can actually also helps children to develop their social skills. Playing blocks with other children helps kids to make friends and learn how to cooperate. The study, Social Skills: Laying the Foundation for Success found that blocks are a primary “learning material that encourages cooperative play.” When trying to build difficult structures, children can learn how to work together, and problem solve as a team.
