EARLY YEARS LEARNING CENTRE
Nurturing Children to Achieve Their Best Potential
As parents, we all desire the best start for our children, but where can you turn for extra support when you are concerned about their development?
RECOGNIZING THE SIGNS
Sometimes the early signs of a developmental delay or neurodivergent brain are not very clear, and parents just need some reassurance that their child is on the right path.
Other parents might feel that their child shows some signs of delay which leads them to seek advice.
If the developmental delay is quite noticeable, their child may have already been referred to an NHS professional. The waiting lists can be overwhelmingly long and valuable time is lost while waiting for support.
ACCESSING NHS, AND CHILDREN’S SERVICES SUPPORT
In recent years it has become even more difficult to access adequate support for your child’s needs as both the NHS, and Children’s Therapy Services are overstretched. The number of cases and referrals has significantly increased while their resources are being cut back.
I’ve been closely working with these professionals for more than 15 years. They are all highly qualified, dedicated individuals who are struggling with the daily workload. The long waiting lists are unavoidable.
The main concern is that the 6 months or longer waiting time for accessing professional support is incredibly long for a 2-4 year old. The valuable time lost for early intervention cannot be recovered.
OUR NURSERY AND LEARNING CENTRE
My name is Ursula Majoros, QTS, BA Hons in Early Years and I have been working as a childcare professional for more than 25 years. I received my level 6 qualification from Portsmouth University in 2009.
Over the years, I have continually updated my knowledge and worked extensively with many children with SEN, many times in one-on-one sessions.
Fun Box opened its doors in 2014, in Totton in the New Forest area. Since its very early days, we have nurtured an increasing number of children with developmental delays such as speech and language issues, motor skills challenges, social communication problems and autism.
I have extensive experience in preparing referrals for SEN support and closely liaise with local authorities to ensure the best possible support for the children attending Fun Box.
Thanks to positive feedback from our families and local authorities, more and more families with similar needs have found us. However, our offerings remained limited as a general childcare setting.
OUR EARLY YEARS LEARNING CENTRE
We believe that early intervention is key to building a strong foundation that your child can rely on as they move forward in life.
We aim to support families who are waiting for NHS children’s therapies or feel that their child could benefit from extra support.
Research by the Institute of Fiscal Studies found that children who benefited from Sure Start Centres in their early years, performed better in their GCSEs. These centres offered integrated services for families, including health professionals and therapy services.
Inspired by their concept, we’ve opened our early intervention centre.
